Iowa START (I-START) provides prevention and intervention services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and mental health needs through crisis response, training, consultation, and outreach. I-START uses evidence-based practices to help support service teams that serve individuals with IDD. Its goal is to help people remain in their home or community placement. The I-START team utilizes a grant from Health and Human Services to provide START services under the name of Provider Prevention and Support Services (PPSS). The program accepts referrals across the state.
