All NOTS live Q&A events are held via Zoom from 1:00-2:00 ET / 12:00-1:00 CT / 11:00-12:00 MT / 10:00-11:00 PT.

Description: People with IDD-MH are often left out of the conversation about sexuality, almost as if they are incapable of having thoughts, feelings, and needs. In reality, they, too, are sexual beings who need information and skills for making healthy decisions about sexuality. This webinar will discuss the benefits and barriers to accessing sexual health education for people with IDD-MH. It will also discuss how sexuality educators can support individuals and organizations with increasing access to sexual health education and provide effective resources for people with IDD-MH.

Objectives:

  1. Describe the benefits and barriers to accessing comprehensive sexuality education.
  2. List five circles of sexuality.
  3. Describe how START can work with a sexuality educator.
  4. Explain the service Elevatus Training provides and the peer sexuality educator Model.
  5. List resources and tools for addressing sexuality with people with IDD-MH.
