Application Timeline

What's due by the application deadline?

We will need the following by 11:59pm on the date the application closes:

  • Student application
  • Release of information from NH Vocational Rehabilitation (VR)
  • Release of information from the Area Agency (AA)
  • A copy of the student's Individual Education Plan (IEP)
  • Documentation of intellectual disability (preferred at this time)

What can be submitted later?

  • Letters of recommendation
  • Documentation of intellectual disability

  • Your Most Recent IEP
  • Documentation of Intellectual Disability.
    • This can be your IEP or testing information from a psychologist
    • More information about intellectual disability can be found here
  • Your Resume
    Your resume should include:
    • Your school’s name
    • Extracurricular activities you used to do and/or currently do
    • Volunteer activities you used to do and/or currently do
    • Jobs you used to do and/or currently do
    • Awards or honors you are proud of
    • If you do not have a resume, be sure you have a list of your extracurricular and volunteer activities and jobs.

  • Releases of Information
    Releases of information allow other people to communicate with UNH-4U about your application.

    You will need releases of information from:
    • Vocational Rehabilitation
    • Your Area Agency or Developmental Disabilities Services organization
  • Your Application Essay
    In 3-4 paragraphs, answer these questions:
    • Please describe what strengths you will bring to UNH-4U and why you are interested in the program.
    • Please describe which program of study/major you are interested in. Why is this program of study/major related to your current career goals/employment goals.  
    • How will attending UNH-4U help you achieve your goals?
    • What does going to college mean to you?
      • Save your essay as a .doc, .docx, .pdf, or .jpg file
  • 3 Letters of Recommendation
    Please give the people providing you letters of recommendation these instructions for guidance
    • Tips:
      • Give your references at least 2 weeks to write their letter
      • Tell your references why you want to go to UNH-4U.
      • Tell your references about your goals for your career and life after UNH-4U.
    • Your letters should be from:
      • Your Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor
        • If you don’t have a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, you can pick someone who knows about your career goals or who has worked with you
      • Your Service Coordinator or teacher
      • An employer, teacher, or another person who knows you well (for example, someone from a club, sport, or religious organization)
