Sandra Toryeanea Hicks “Sandy” died peacefully on January 22, 2020, at home in Manchester at the age of 79 after a long illness. Sandy is known for being the first recipient of the Martin Luther King Jr. Award in 1987 and the New Hampshire Unsung Heroine Award.

The IOD is very fortunate to have been a beneficiary of Sandy’s warmth, sense of humor, and steadfast dedication to community inclusion for her over 8 years of dedication to as a member of our Consumer Advisory Council. She will undoubtedly be missed by the countless individuals whose lives have been touched by Sandy’s lifelong commitment to serving communities in New Hampshire and beyond.
