Professional Background

Janie is a social worker who has experience with case management and providing therapy and crisis services to children and adults in community and residential settings. As an undergraduate in college Janie worked with children with autism which helped to cultivate a strong passion for supporting individuals with IDD. Janie initially joined the START network as an intern for NC START East in 2018. After graduating with her MSW from East Carolina University in 2019 Janie moved to Charlotte, NC to be a START Coordinator for NC START West. As a member of the national team, Janie will collaborate with the PCORI research team to evaluate the effectiveness of START telehealth services for individuals with IDD. Janie lives in Charlotte, NC with her husband, their two pet rabbits, and her large collection of houseplants. In her free time, Janie enjoys doing yoga, reading, traveling, and going to concerts.
