Commitment to Accessibility and Inclusion (A&I)

The Institute on Disability is committed to inclusion and full and equal access of all people using our services, research, dissemination activities, and educational efforts. The purpose of the IOD’s accessibility statement is to:

  • Raise internal and external awareness of barriers to accessing physical and virtual environments and physical and digital materials; and
  • Build the abilities of staff and others (community partners) to actively create more accessible physical and digital environments and materials for everyone.  

Physical Accessibility Commitment

  • The UNH Institute on Disability is committed to providing accessible spaces to all people. This includes the physical spaces that the IOD occupies at the University of New Hampshire Durham campus and the Concord, NH location.
  • Events held by the UNH Institute on Disability are designed with accessibility at the forefront of the planning process regardless of event location.

Digital Accessibility Commitment

  • The UNH Institute on Disability is committed to providing training internally to our staff, as well as external participants, to further increase inclusion and participation for all people within the digital space.
  • The UNH Institute on Disability will provide a website that conforms to WCAG 2.0 AA Guidelines as mandated by the University System of New Hampshire (USNH).
  • The UNH Institute on Disability will disseminate digital products that are tested for conformance to the W3C WCAG 2.0 – Level AA Success Criteria and federally compliant with Revised Section 508 Standards as documented in the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • The UNH Institute on Disability will offer alternative formats upon request.

Print Communications and Associated Materials Accessibility Commitment

  • The UNH Institute on Disability is committed to providing inclusive and accessible print communications and associated materials regardless of final format.
  • The UNH Institute on Disability will use and follow best practices and federal law where applicable for the chosen medium.
  • The UNH Institute on Disability will offer alternative formats upon request.
