Maya James was a fun-loving and quirky child. While she faced multiple challenges (Down syndrome & autism), she walked through her world with confidence and spirit. Maya tragically and unexpectedly passed away in the spring of 2021. In her name, the James family started Maya’s Spark Fund whose mission is to raise money to provide access to quality programs that support developmentally disabled people and their families live their best quality life in New Hampshire.
Managed by Emily James, Maya’s mother and NH Leadership graduate 2008, the fund raised $24,000 in 6 months. Maya touched so many lives in so many ways! This inaugural year the Fund supported the following programs with a combined donation of $8,500: NH Leadership (of course), NAPA center, DS-ASD Connection, David’s House, Zebra Crossings, Adam’s Camp New England, Best Buddies, and Camp Communicate. These are all amazing, high-quality programs that meet the fund’s mission.
