Hundreds of volunteers recently gathered to support the Granite State’s first ever GoBabyGo! Mobility Workshop.
Teams of volunteers including engineers, therapists, and others, customized play cars that were designed for children with restricted mobility. Says Déodonné P. Bhattarai (‘16), “The event was a huge success! We ended up adapting eight cars for the most adorable kiddos including two "Leadership legacies", speaking of her son Bodhi and Trevor, son of Kona Johnson (’16).
Kona was an enthusiastic supporter of the event saying, “I was inspired and thankful to be fortunate enough to participate in the GoBabyGo! workshop. Trev has enjoyed his car and the independence it has provided him. I hope to volunteer my time in future events because I believe in the power of mobility.”
This exciting workshop was brought to NH by Tobi Sheiker, a mother who had benefitted from her son receiving a car in Delaware. The GoBabyGo team was able to raise over $5000 to buy the cars and adaptive equipment necessary to fit them to each child. Tobi hopes to bring more workshops to NH and is looking for volunteers for the next event. To learn more or to volunteer or apply for a car, go to http://www.gobabygonh.myevent.com/ .
