Substance Use and Youth
Treatment and Recovery Services for NH's Youth and Young Adults

New Hampshire is ranked 39th out of the 50 states for illicit drug use among children aged 12 to 17, and many children and youth are adversely impacted by substance use among their caregivers or social network.

The Children’s Behavioral Health Team at the Institute on Disability builds capacity among community providers and peer support organizations to provide high-quality services focused on supporting youth, young adults, and families impacted by problematic substance use, in collaboration with the Bureau for Children’s Behavioral Health of the NH Department of Health and Human Services

Learn about The Seven Challenges, a research-based counseling intervention specifically designed to help youth understand the reasons for and impact of their substance use and empowers each youth to develop a forward-looking plan for gaining more control over their situation

Learn about Alternative Peer Groups (APGs), a mentoring and peer support program for youth with substance use challenges. APGs offer family support, substance free social activities, and a safe space for youth to get support and learn strategies to improve their health and wellbeing in a judgment free environment.

Learn about Building Futures Together, a training program for peers and paraprofessional level staff working with children and youth impacted by substance use.
