This issue brief describes the considerations that are necessary to ensure that a training regimen will increase direct support staff expertise and improve the quality of services and supports. This paper was initially developed as a resource to the Living Well grantees funded by the Administration on Community Living under contract with Mission Analytics. It has been adapted as a resource for the National Center on Advancing Person- Centered Practices and Systems (NCAPPS) community.
