Julie Smith
Professional Background
Julie Smith is a Family Faculty and the Clinic Placement Coordinator for NH-ME LEND. Her family experience of raising a son on the autism spectrum lays the foundation for her work mentoring family discipline trainees, teaching about autism spectrum disorder and presenting about interdisciplinary developmental evaluation in LEND seminar. As the clinic placement coordinator, she partners with sites across New Hampshire to provide experiences for NH-ME LEND trainees in pediatric medicine, therapy, and behavioral health, as well as community-based services for children with developmental differences and their families.
In addition to her present role with the NH-ME LEND, she is a Clinic Coordinator and Family Support Specialist at the Child Development Clinic at Amoskeag Health. Her professional work began with the Seacoast Child Development Clinic, previously part of the NH-LEND program (2008-2017).
A parent of a young man with autism spectrum disorder, she brings a wealth of knowledge about the family experience across the lifespan. She has facilitated two NH Seacoast parent education groups for parents of preschoolers and later for transition age youth. She served on the Institute on Disability Consumer Council and the Community Partner’s Family Council for over 10 years.
