We are pleased to welcome People First of New Hampshire as a new leadership project partner. Founded in 1992, People First of NH is a non-profit organization led by people with disabilities who are committed to protecting the rights of people with disabilities to make choices and decisions in their own lives and live to their fullest potential. They are committed to protecting, encouraging, and advocating for a more accessible and inclusive world.
Our partnership launches with the project, “This is My ability” housed within their Self-Advocacy Leadership Team (SALT) Committee. Dedicated to policy and legislative advocacy, they strive to collaborate with other state groups to address issues that are important to the wider community, not just to people with disabilities. Kathy Bates (SALT Facilitator and Advisor) and John Fenley (Secretary and Treasurer, People First/SALT) are working with their first NH-ME LEND trainee, Karin Mortimer.
For her LEND leadership project, Karin is assisting with a media campaign by meeting with people across the state of New Hampshire and creating short video statements that highlight their talents and showcase their abilities rather than disabilities. The end goal is to launch videos across social media platforms to dispel myths and bring about awareness of how much people with disabilities have to offer.
Wishing our new partner a warm welcome to the NH-ME LEND community!
