Food and Nutrition Security among People with Disabilities
This team of interdisciplinary researchers has shared expertise in food security and nutrition among people with disabilities and older adults. The work presented here has been supported by federal agencies including the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other organizations. This body of work addresses a variety of topics, including, but not limited to:
- Measurement of food security for people with disabilities - generally and for specific sub-populations of persons with disabilities;
- Identifying and addressing barriers to accessing adequate food and nutrition at the local level for persons with disabilities;
- The implication of Supplemental Nutrition Access Program participation on well-being among older adults;
- Changes in levels of food sufficiency during the COVID-pandemic.
