Welcome to Equipped to Engage!

When researchers with and without intellectual disability collaborate, they can do better research. The Equipped to Engage toolkit includes free tools that teams can use to work together as a research team and make decisions about planning, doing, and sharing research. These tools can also help teams use PCORI’s Foundational Expectations for Research Partnerships. These Foundational Expectations help teams work well together.

How can I use the Equipped to Engage Toolkit?

You can pick tools that will support your team throughout your research.

To get started, watch the following video or review the Quick Start Guide.

A team of researchers with and without intellectual disability made the Equipped to Engage Toolkit. Equipped to Engage can be used by any team that wants to do community-engaged research.

Equipped to Engage was funded through a Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Eugene Washington PCORI Engagement Award (EACB-29073A. Co-Leads: Schwartz & McDonald).

The Equipped to Engage Toolkit can help research teams work together and make decisions about planning, doing, and sharing research. The tools can be tailored to meet your needs. You can find tools either by stage of research or PCORI’s Foundational Expectations for Partnerships in Research.
