A green strand of DNA with the text "DNA Today"

At the top of the year, NH-ME LEND trainee Karina Mancini, NH-ME LEND Director Betsy Humphreys, and Karen Volle, Project Director with the New England Regional Genetics Network (NERGN) at the Institute on Disability, were featured on DNA Today, a genetics radio show and podcast. Hosted by Kira Dineen, the podcast began in 2012 and has produced over 160 episodes interviewing experts in the field.

In this episode, the group shared information about their programs and experiences with the New Hampshire-Maine Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) and the New England Regional Genetics Network programs and how they relate to genetics advocacy.

Karina Mancini, who has a passion for genetics education and advocacy, shared, "I was ecstatic to be able to speak on this podcast and share how the LEND program has shaped my career journey thus far. I am pursuing entry into a master's program in genetic counseling, and LEND has given me the opportunity to learn more about how to be a leader in the disability community. Through LEND, I have learned how to be an advocate, look closer at public policy that directly affects individuals with disabilities, and be a leader in my field of genetics."
