- We are pleased to announce that Eric A. Lauer has recently earned his Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the School of Public Health at Rugters University. Eric graduated from the program in October after successfully defended his dissertation entitled Teasing Apart the Complex Relationship Between Psychological Distress, Mental Health Conditions, Social Factors, and Disability in the United States.
- Congratulations to Dr. Therese Willkomm who received the 2017 Governor’s Accessibility Award for the project Building a national partnership to identify the mental health priorities of young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (YA with I/DD). This project is a partnership between Boston University and The Arc of the United States.
- Dr. Joan B. Beasley has been invited by AUCD to participate on the advisory board for project called Building a national partnership to identify the mental health priorities of young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (YA with I/DD). This project is a partnership between Boston University and The Arc of the United States.
- Dr. Andrew Houtenville was selected to serve on the National Academy of Science's Committee on Functional Assessment of Adults with Disabilities. The Committee will investigate the use of functional assessment tools in the Social Security Administration's disability determination process and return-to-work support service.
- Dr. Betsy Humphreys published another paper recently that examines a treatment model for children ages 12 to 60 months with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). This new paper, An Evaluation of the Research Evidence on the Early Start Denver Model was co-authored with Erika M. Baril also from UNH and published in the Journal of Early Intervention.
- Dr. Debra Brucker published two articles: Measuring Disability, which discusses the importance of measuring disability in housing policy research in Cityscape: A Journal of Policy Development and Research, and Health and health care access among adults with disabilities who receive federal housing assistance, which estimates the prevalence of disability among adults who receive federal housing assistance and examines health disparities for this population, in Housing Policy Debate.
- Drs. Debra Brucker and Andrew Houtenville published the article, Striving to Work, which improves upon standard US labor force measures to create three new measures which better capture the range of activities and attitudes that signal, at the individual level, an interest in work, in Social Indicators Research.
