For the first time in two years, NH-ME LEND faculty, trainees, and community partners celebrated together at the University of New Hampshire on May 6, 2022. Being together in person after so much virtual participation was especially meaningful to everyone who attended. The event was filled with hearing the trainees talk about their work, seeing the interaction of trainees and leadership partners, and being with the trainees as they received their LEND certificates, congratulatory handshakes, and well-earned accolades.
The LEND Capstone Poster Session showcases the work trainees do in partnership with UNH, UMaine, and community-based partners. Settings for placements include state agencies, advocacy organizations, and partners in the developmental disabilities network. All Capstone projects are aimed at improving the system of care for individuals with disabilities and their families. Projects include continuing education, policy activities, research, program evaluation, and quality improvement. Examples of this year’s projects include an evaluation of an early intervention tool for family engagement, research into discriminatory practices in school discipline practices, and strategies for empowering families of children with disabilities to become leaders in advocacy and policy development. The NH-ME LEND Capstone Poster Session is considered part of the UNH Graduate Research Conference.
