No. Anyone who meets the eligibility criteria can enroll and complete the 15-week course. You will be required to complete pre-employment (2.5 hour) and pre-enrollment (1 hour) training modules prior to beginning your 15-week course. Once you’ve completed the 15-week course requirements you will receive a Level One Digital Badge and can apply for a job on a Rapid Response team. You will need to become employed by a CMHC to complete the on-the-job mentoring component and to qualify for the certification exams. Once you’ve passed your certification exams you will receive your Level Two Digital Badge.

All current mobile crisis responders who have completed the existing 40-hour training curriculum (Carelon) are welcome to enroll but are not required. All newly hired mobile crisis responders as of June 30, 2024 will be required to complete this course.

No. This is a new training curriculum. It is not a replacement for any other certifications. It is a certification specific to the role of the crisis responder. This certification offers a credential where none exist for those transferring from other fields/occupations.

Your certification will give you the training required to apply for employment within one of NH’s 10 Rapid Response mobile crisis teams (located within CMHCs). It does not, however, take the place of post-secondary degrees/licensures required to serve in other roles within the behavioral health system such as therapist (requires a Master’s degree and state licensure) or case manager, outreach specialist, or residential counselor (requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree).

Yes. Achieving certification would supplement and enhance your peer support role. It would also enable you to apply for other roles within the NH Rapid Response System (when/where available) that require the certification.
