• In November, Therese Willkomm, Ph.D., a Clinical Associate Professor at the Institute on Disability presented at the 2018 Gerontech and Innovation Expo Summit (GIES) in Hong Kong. She presented during the third plenary session, Use of Technologies to Enhance the Quality of Living of People with Disabilities, along with experts from Hong Kong, Australia, and Japan.
  • IOD Filmmaker Dan Habib’s recent film, INTELLIGENT LIVES, won the 2018 TASH Positive Images in the Media Award. Micah Fialka-Feldman, one of the stars of the film, accepted the award in person. Habib previously won this award for his first film Including Samuel.
  • This year’s AUCD Annual Report highlights a variety of efforts including the IOD’s Dr. Mary Schuh. Since her time as the 2017-18 Kennedy Fellow she has worked on the development of a dedicated technical assistance (TA) resource center on the topic of augmentative and alternative communication.
