Professional Background

Dr. Janson-Sand is an Associate Professor at the UNH in Durham NH and Director of the Dietetic Program. She has served in UNH Cooperative Extension and the Institute on Disability as Core Faculty in the LEND Program. She is responsible for the design of both the Dietetic Internship and Dietetic Technician Programs at UNH. In 2003, she received the Outstanding Educator Award from ADA Area 7. She has been President of her state dietetic association and Chair on Professional Issues. She was active in gaining licensure for dietitians in NH and was appointed by the Governor to serve on the NH Board of Licensure for Dietitians and recently served on the Governor’s Commission for the Prevention of Childhood Obesity.

Projects

The NH and ME Leadership in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Program (NH-ME LEND) is a collaboration among Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, the College of Health and Human Services at the University of New Hampshire, and the Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies/UCED at the University of Maine-Orono. The purpose of NH-ME LEND is to improve the health of children and youth with neurodevelopmental disabilities by preparing leaders to enter the field of maternal and child health.
