Professional Background

Sarah joined the IOD in November of 2018 as a Policy Analyst for the StatsRRTC project. Her background is in public policy, research and data analysis, econometrics, social equity, and program coordination and evaluation. Previously, Sarah worked abroad in rural Guatemala at a small nonprofit dedicated to improving educational and employment opportunities through building a school out of recycled materials. As part of a limited team, Sarah found herself filling many different roles including leading construction crews, conducting survey research, and creating infographics. Grateful for this experience, she returned to the United States to focus more on domestic policy work. Her career goal is to use research to inform more effective and equitable policy and decision-making. Sarah is excited to be using her policy research and graphic design experience to support the StatsRRTC and its dissemination and knowledge translation initiatives.

The mission of the Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Disability Statistics and Demographics (StatsRRTC) is to narrow and actively bridge the divide between the producers and end users of disability statistics, thereby supporting better data collection, more accurate information, better decision-making, more effective programs, and better lives for people with disabilities.
