The New Hampshire Disability & Public Health project's 2021 infographic shows that adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in New Hampshire (NH) need better access to preventive health care.  Compared to adults with IDD nationally, adults with IDD in NH are less likely to get some health screenings.

When asked about stress, depression, and problems with emotions in the last 30 days, people with disabilities who were also transgender had the most mentally unhealthy days.  Review the data and learn strategies to support the mental health of people with disabilities who are transgender.

New Hampshire Disability and Health Annual Reports

Each year, DHP publishes a New Hampshire (NH) Disability and Public Health report. The annual report provides the latest statistics and information about health behaviors and health risk factors that affect the health equity of adults with intellectual, developmental, cognitive and mobility disabilities. It suggests strategies that policymakers and program managers can use to establish more inclusive programs and initiatives in NH.

White Paper: Examining Preventive Cancer Screening Rates among Vulnerable Adults in New Hampshire

The New Hampshire Comprehensive Cancer Collaborative (NH CCC) Equity Task Force recently released a white paper examining cancer prevention and screening rates among hard-to-reach, vulnerable populations in New Hampshire. The Equity Task Force was convened in 2015 to further the NH CCC’s mission to reduce cancer incidence, morbidity, and mortality for the people of NH. Dr. Kimberly Phillips, DPH Co-Investigator, served as a Task Force co-chair; she and Sara Rainer, DPH Project Manager, co-authored the white paper with other members of the Task Force.

New England RHEC Releases Regional Health Equity Report & Call to Action

DPH's involvement with the New England Regional Health Equity Council (NE RHEC) led to the inclusion of disability as a health equity population in the NH RHEC's Regional Health Equity Profile & Call to Action. The report uses a Social Determinants of Health framework to examine key indicators of health (e.g., healthy eating, physical activity, risky behaviors, access to health care), concluding with a regional call to action. With DPH's guidance and expertise, NE RHEC is the only RHEC in the country to include disability as a health equity population.
