Growth Mindset for Educators

1 - Day Training

Many educators face significant and continuous pressure on a daily basis to support all students to achieve to their greatest potential. This intended outcome, though embraced throughout each school and district in everyday work, primarily falls on the classroom teacher. The Growth Mindset, as introduced by Columbia University’s Carol Dweck, provides a sound sense of direction, personal and professional control, and focus for the classroom teacher to support all students to achieve to their greatest potential. This day long workshop introduces the theoretical framework of the Growth Mindset and provides opportunity for educators to apply its functions in their personal and professional work.

Expected Participant Outcomes
  • Gain knowledge of the theoretical constructs of Growth Mindset

  • Apply the constructs of Growth Mindset to their personal and professional lives

  • Apply the constructs of Growth Mindset to teaching practices

Who Should Attend

This 1-day course is intended for teachers and administrators who have an interest in developing their knowledge, and skill set in the application of Growth Mindset in their daily work of leading and implementing effective instruction.

Maura Hart

Technical Assistance Provider

Dr. Maura Hart has over 25 years experience supporting teachers and administrators in their professional learning journeys in her work with education graduate study students, pre-service teachers, and facilitation of teams at the school, district, and state level in the cycle of continuous improvement. Dr. Hart began her career as a middle and high school Language Arts and English teacher in NH and VT. Recently, Dr. Hart served as a member of the SWIFT Center (Schoolwide Integrated Framework for Transformation) providing assistance and training in Coaching to educators in the northeast and nationally. Currently, Dr. Hart is a Technical Assistance provider at the UNH SWIFT Education Center Satellite, at the Institute on Disability. She lives in the Upper Valley on a small farm with her husband and 2 teenage daughters.
