Mastering the Accessibility Features of the iPad for iOS 11

The built-in accessibility features of the iPad make it an increasingly more desirable device for students of all ages. Although dictation and text to speech features have become more common place, there are a wide variety of customizable settings to reach all students. Using hands-on exploration, participants will learn how to customize the iPad to accommodate for functional limitations such as; vision, hearing, communication, physical limitations, and learning. All of this is available without purchasing a single app.

Assistive Technology for Reading & Writing

There are many assistive technology options available in order to help students of all ages access their reading and writing curriculum. Participants will have an opportunity for hands-on exploration of a variety of iPad apps to support reading and writing as well as other exploring other available technologies.

Participants are encouraged to bring an iPad to the training but a limited number of iPads will be available for use.

Stacy Driscoll

Stacy joined the IOD in February 2014. She worked as program coordinator with Assistive Technology in NH and more recently with UNH4U before joining NH-ME LEND. Stacy began her career in education as a paraprofessional, then went on to earn her BA and M.Ed, Stacy is a is a Nationally Certified Assistive Technology Professional and has a graduate certificate in Assistive Technology. Through the years Stacy has taught in multiple districts throughout NH as special educator, classroom teacher, Title 1 teacher, and paraprofessional. She has provided services to individuals with disabilities for 30 years and has conducted trainings and consultation services regionally and nationally including teaching post-secondary courses in both education and assistive technology. Stacy is a lifelong learner excited to share in the learning process with others.
