March 27, 2019 is National Assistive Technology Awareness Day
Durham, NH – The United States Congress voted to designate March 27, 2019 as National Assistive Technology Day. Members of the Assistive Technology in New Hampshire (ATinNH) program will be in Washington, DC meeting with legislators to share the importance of Assistive Technology.
According to the resolution, the Senate "commends assistive technology specialists and program coordinators for their hard work and dedication to serving people with disabilities who are in need of finding the proper assistive technology to meet their individual needs; and professional organizations and researchers who are dedicated to facilitating the access and acquisition of assistive technology for people with disabilities and older adults in need of assistive technology devices."
“Assistive technology is used to help people with disabilities maximize their independence in living, learning and working,” shares Dr. Therese Willkomm, Director of ATinNH. “This day will shine a spotlight on the work that assistive technology specialists do to solve everyday challenges”.
