Community Living & Employment

NH Leadership Series graduates gather in a circle with their hands centered in anticipation of a group cheer..

The IOD’s Community Living priority area has been established as a trusted university-based resource for research, evaluation, and technical assistance for the improvement of knowledge, policies, and practices to guide New Hampshire citizens and policy makers. The Center enhances the IOD’s mission to strengthen communities to assure full access, equal opportunities and full participation for adults with disabilities and those who are aging into and with disabilities.

The Community Living priority area encompasses a broad range of IOD work related to adults; including transition to adult life, employment, housing, transportation, person-centered planning, family leadership, aging, caregivers, assistive technology, and systems change. Priority area staff offer a broad range of expertise to include research and evaluation, model program development, public policy, project management, grant writing, and training and technical assistance. The Center offers well-researched and practical assistance to community and state agency staff; older adults, families and advocates; and policy makers to support thoughtful program and public policy design.
